We are the Living Gallery
A Poem by Alyssa Bernal

We are the Living Gallery
Not confined to four white walls and carefully curated lighting
But we are illuminated by the sun and the glow of the moon
By soft bedroom lights in all hours of the night

We are the Living Gallery
No, not still life
But still alive
Bursting at the seams beyond four cornered canvases
Or houses or suburbs
We are bursting through these carefully designed boxes
Beyond physical spaces that could never contain the spaciousness emerging of collective creation

We are the Living Gallery
Not to be oogled at or carefully analyzed and considered and measured to the standard
We are to be witnessed

Do you receive my heart?
Can you soften and surrender to the humble soft power I see within you that you see within me?

We are the Living Gallery
Not made to walk and walk in turns and corridors
But make no mistake we will pass through portals together

But here, your feet are for dancing and stomping and raging
Your hands are for shaking and writing and witnessing

Your body is invited to the whole embodied experience.
